The success of our PTA — all the community events we host and programs we provide — is dependent on the time and dedication of our volunteers. Parents, guardians, grandparents, and other adult role models are critical to our ability to perform and deliver for our children.
Over the past few years, our PTA has been faced with decreasing volunteer involvement. Some feedback suggests that its volunteer fatigue (the same person(s) leading the charge and/or carrying the workload burden with little support). Other feedback indicates the over-scheduling that our adult role models are burden with, including work/life balance, conflicting extra-curricular activities, and the every day challenges we juggle.
The unfortunate reality is that without volunteers, our programs will be canceled. Our community events will be canceled. The bottom-line is that it “takes a village” to provide the enrichment and entertainment programs our children have come to enjoy.
For school year 2016-17, we have launched two new ambassador roles. The Kindergarten Ambassador has been established to help new families assimilate with our school and PTA programs. The Volunteer Ambassador has been established to help connect volunteers with opportunities. Both of these roles are intended to bridge the interpersonal disconnect created by an over-reliance on social media and email communications.
Please consider becoming a volunteer at our school and share your talents. We realize that the CES family is comprised of hundreds of talented individuals and we want to “Celebrate Your Talents” at school this year. We’re pretty sure you’ll find something that you can lend your expertise to – give it a try! There are great opportunities for you to leverage your executive and creative talents — perhaps in ways you may not thought would apply to school programs.
